What kind of services do you provide?

One Another offers a full range of both proactive and responsive professional services to international Christian organizations and their personnel using a short term intensive model. This includes training, leadership consulting, debriefing, crisis management, conflict management, counseling, and resourcing.

What do you charge for your services?

Answer

One Another Ministries International provides professional services to Christian organizations and international Christian workers. We operate on a suggested donation basis and do not charge for the services we provide. This is possible because all costs associated with this ministry are covered by the generosity and sacrifice of our donors. Those who receive help normally want to have part in ensuring that these services will be available to others in the future. In planning their donation, some have asked what it costs One Another to make this help available. This information and suggested donation guidelines can be viewed here.

Who can receive services from One Another?

Answer

One Another provides services to international Christian organizations and their personnel: individuals, couples, families, and ministry teams.

Question 4

Should my spouse come with me?

Answer

We strongly suggest that everyone directly involved in the issue be present. If your issue is strictly personal, it may be appropriate to come alone. But if your spouse is also directly involved in the situation, we would suggest he/she attend with you.

May we bring our children with us?

Answer

Normally, no. We have found that in order to accomplish as much as possible in a very limited amount of time, people need to be able to focus totally on their reasons for being with us. This process is seriously impeded if people are doing anything else during the week including: trying to do any other work, making contacts with others, or needing to focus on parenting. Because of this, we ask everyone to make other arrangements for the care of their children, and not plan to do any other work during the time you are with us.

Children are allowed to accompany their parents and participate in the process only when they are directly involved in the issue being addressed. One example of this might be a debriefing for the entire family following a emergency evacuation.

What type of arrangements do most people make for their children?

Answer

Most workers make arrangements with a colleague or close friend on the field. When this is not possible, they often make arrangements for a family member or close friend from home to stay with the children while the parents are with us. They find that the long-term benefit far outweighs the short-term expense.

Do you provide long-distance counseling (e.g., by phone, Skype, or online)?

Answer

No, as a general rule we do not provide counseling online or by phone or Skype. The only exceptions to this would be brief meetings either in preparation for or as follow-up after face-to-face sessions.

Does anyone in your ministry specialize in treating sexual addiction?

Answer

No, we do not specialize in treating sexual addiction. We offer help to Christian workers dealing with many different issues – including addictions and other issues relating to their sexuality. Thankfully, over the years of offering these services, we have seen many who were struggling with these very issues rebuild their lives, relationships, and families. During their time with us, those who seek help through our ministry can gain new insights and tools that help them deal with their struggles, and come away with clear plans and strategies for the future – including plans for follow-up and accountability. When we believe it would be beneficial or appropriate, we will make a referral to another qualified professional.

How do I schedule time with a One Another staff member?

Answer

After your initial contact, we will send you a brief questionnaire to get the information necessary to schedule properly. When we have received a completed questionnaire from each person requesting services, a One Another staff member will contact you to work out scheduling.

For how long will I need to come?

Answer

We use a short-term intensive model, normally scheduling services for between one day and one week. The staff member who receives your information will determine the amount of time to schedule for you. We are normally fully scheduled two to three months in advance, though we can often make arrangements to see people much more quickly in crisis situations.

What training and experience do your staff members have?

Answer

All One Another team members have both training and considerable experience, both in their areas of professional specialties and in cross-cultural ministry. Those working as counselors all have Master Degrees or higher in Counseling Psychology or closely related fields from regionally accredited institutions.

Will you prescribe medications for me?

Answer

No, we do not prescribe medications.

Do you practice biblical counseling?

Answer

Our staff counselors are dedicated Christians who are trained and experienced both in biblical Theology and in professional counseling. Our perspective is thoroughly biblical – we believe, uphold, and apply God's Word in every area of our lives, teaching, counseling, and ministry. Since we accept God's Word as the ultimate authority in our lives, we reject anything that is contrary to the truth God has revealed in His Word.

With regard to choice of therapy techniques, we endeavor to be responsibly eclectic applying the technique that has proven to be the most effective with the problem or issue at hand. The kinds of issues encountered in cross-cultural ministry often call for the application of techniques drawn from, among others, the crisis intervention model, systems theory, and cognitive-behavioral techniques (understanding that beliefs will influence actions which can then lead to certain emotions).

Who will know I am with you?

Answer

Normally, only the One Another staff. We strive to provide a place of safety where Christian workers can deal with any issues. To accomplish this, we maintain the highest standards of professional competence and confidentiality in an atmosphere that is comfortable, safe, and neutral (i.e. not affiliated with any particular mission agency).

Will a report be sent to my agency?

Answer

Not normally. However, when an agency refers a member to our care, previously stipulating that a report is requested, an end of therapy report with an evaluation and recommendations can be provided. When such a report is requested, an authorization for release of information will always be reviewed and signed by all parties prior to any services being provided.

Where are the services provided?

Answer

When working with an individual, couple, or small team, the services are normally provided at our ministry centre located in central England. However, when working with larger teams or entire organizations, we are available to travel and work at the point of need.

Where is the One Another Centre located?

Answer

The One Another Ministry facility is located 40 minutes northwest of Birmingham, the second largest city in England. It is in the center of the Cannock Chase, a designated ‘area of natural beauty’ in the West Midlands. The centre is 9 miles southeast of Stafford, 6 miles north of Cannock, and 5 miles southwest of Rugeley, UK.

What accommodations are available?

Answer

Our newly renovated guest rooms are large, and very comfortable with en-suite bath and shower. We are a smoke free and alcohol free facility.

Will my electrical appliances work?

Answer

England has 220 volt electricity. Appliances made for 110 volt will not work unless a transformer is used. An adaptor will be needed for any non-UK 220 volt appliances. Please be sure to check your appliances before plugging them in.

Is internet available?

Yes, limited internet access is available for essential communication. We do ask everyone at our centre to focus on the issues and reasons for being with us and refrain from doing any other work during their stay.

Should I bring my own sheets, pillows and linens?

No, all linens are provided with the rooms.

Are laundry services available?

Answer

Not on site, however, if you have transportation we can give you directions to a laundromat in the area.

Yes. Meals are provided for those receiving services at the center. Breakfast is selfserve, with lunch and dinner provided by staff members.

Can my special diet be accommodated?

Yes. Please let us know about any special dietary needs, and we will work with you to accommodate them. If you require special foods we may ask you to bring them with you.

Yes, there are numerous restaurants and tea shops located a short driving distance from the ministry centre. A list of restaurants is available for viewing at the reception desk.

What is the closest airport to your location?

We are approximately a 45 minute drive from Birmingham International (BHX) which is the closest airport to our centre. Approximate driving times from other major airports are as follows: 1 hour from East Midlands (EMA), 1½ hours from Manchester International (MAN), 2½ to 3½ hours from any of the London airports (Heathrow, Luton, Stansted, City, or Gatwick).

By Car
We are located at the intersection of Marquis Drive and Penkridge Bank in Cannock, England. If you have SatNav (GPS), you should be able to locate us using our postal code WS12 4PR.

By Rail
The closest train stations to our centre are Hednesford, Rugeley, Cannock, and Stafford. Our staff will be happy to pick you up at any of these stations.You can take a direct train to Stafford from Birmingham International Airport or from London Euston train station.You can get an idea of train schedules and costs at www.Londonmidland.com or www.thetrainline.com.

From Birmingham International Airport
The journey by train takes about one hour.

From the airport departure terminal you will go upstairs to the food court.
Then take a shuttle across the parking lot to the Birmingham Int’l train station.
Then you will either:
1) take a direct train to Stafford. This is the simplest option.
2) take a train to Hednesford after changing at Birmingham New Street.
From the airport it is about a 10 minute journey to Birmingham New Street station in the center of town. There you will change for a train to Hednesford (going in the direction of Rugeley Trent Valley) which is about a 40 minute journey.

If you let us know your arrival time, one of our staff can come to the Hednesford or Stafford station to pick you up.

From Manchester International Airport
The total journey will take just over an hour.

You can travel to either Stafford or Rugeley Trent Valley.
Either of these will require a change at either Crewe (a very simple change on the same platform) or the Manchester Picadilly station.
